Kathmandu: A strong earthquake originating from Daulichaur, Bajhang, in the Sudurpaschim Province, shook the region, causing concerns among the local population. According to the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre located in Lainchaur, the earthquake had a magnitude of 4.5 and occurred at 4:06 am this morning.

The epicenter of the earthquake was pinpointed to Daulichaur, highlighting the vulnerability of Nepal's hilly and mountainous regions to seismic activities.

The recent earthquake in Bajhang follows a similar event that took place on May 21 in Hukam of Rukum-East, measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale. These recurrent seismic events in both the eastern and western areas of Nepal have raised concerns among the local communities. The region is known for its geological instability, making it more susceptible to earthquakes.

In response to the heightened seismic activity, it is crucial for residents and authorities in Bajhang and surrounding areas to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions. Being earthquake-prone areas, it is essential to have robust disaster preparedness plans in place, including educating the population about safety measures and ensuring infrastructure resilience to minimize potential damage.

The National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre continues to monitor the situation closely to provide timely updates and analysis on seismic activities in the region. As earthquakes continue to be a recurring phenomenon in Nepal, ongoing efforts in monitoring, research, and disaster management are crucial to protect lives and mitigate the impact of these natural disasters.
